Soylent was founded to reduce trade offs between nutrition, time, and sustainability. We are focused on creating the least amount of harm we can while delivering the best quality products. Soylent is the only Food and Beverage company in the United States to have the US Grown Sustainable Soy mark, from the USDA. This denotes that all of our products not only have the highest quality plant protein, but it is all grown in the United States and under the highest standards for soil health and regeneration. Our soy is also grown under fair labor practices ensuring ethical outputs from start to finish.

We know that helping people consume less animal protein is one of the easiest ways to reduce carbon emissions and increase sustainability, but in order to do that plant-based products have to be delicious and affordable so vegans and omnivores alike continue to come back to the product.
We are not only plant-based which has massive positive impacts, but our soy is from sustainable farms in the United States which means it doesn’t have to travel around the world to get into our products. Additionally, we know that the soy is grown in a way that provides both positive environmental and positive economic impact making it a triple threat protein source.

In 2019, we conducted an extensive 3rd party life cycle analysis to look at the environmental impact of all of our product components to farm through consumption and even recyclability. We found that our products are much more sustainable that animal based products and similar meals, but also much more sustainable than other plant-based products. The following are take-a-ways from the study:
Soy protein contributes 50% less CO2 than whey protein and 25% less than a pea/rice protein combination in our application.
Compared to Soylent, a traditional American breakfast contributes 2 times more CO2 emissions while a fast food cheeseburger contributes 5 times more CO2 emissions.
